Skip Daley, a Bloomington resident and business development specialist, will officially announce his candidacy for the Monroe County Council’s At-Large seat at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday.
During a celebration at the Players Pub, Daley will identify his platform, which will focus on innovation, collaboration and job creation.
“With 6,000 of our residents currently unemployed and thousands more underemployed, we need to begin implementing plans to improve our county services and reduce the cost of government,” Daley said in a press release.
As a former business owner, Daley said his extensive background in the nonprofit sector working with social service and community-based organizations will help.
“I understand partnerships and how to foster collaboration,” he said. “I have been successful through the years not by having all of the answers myself, rather by knowing who to ask and by learning how to work well with others. Our local government needs to do a better job at building strategic partnerships. The current state of our economy demands a concerted effort toward building lasting cross-sector relationships.”
