Summer Camp in November

summer camp

Summer Camp’s new album, “Welcome to Condale,” gets the band on the right foot for its first full-length album
.
Tracks like “Last American Virgin,” “Losing My Mind” and “Brian Krakow” are musically and lyrically inspired. Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey mix a 1960s girl-pop sound with 1980s synth to form a refreshing, indie-pop mix.

Much of the lyrics reference failed relationships, and the honesty in many of Sankey’s lyrics is refreshing, especially on “Better Without You” with lyrics like “Stop callin’ me late at night / ... I don’t care anymore / ... It’s so annoying when you whine / You were always wasting my time.”

The album does not have a weak link in any of its 12 songs.

To put it in the words of Sankey, “Welcome to Condale” was not “wasting my time.”
