Man arrested for glue sniffing in car wash

A Mitchell, Ind., man was arrested Saturday after police allegedly found him huffing nitrous oxide in a Bloomington car wash.

The Bloomington Police Department received a call at 8:32 p.m. about a man sitting for an abnormally long time in a car wash in the 1600 block of West Third Street, Bloomington Police Sgt. Scott Myers said.

When officers arrived at the car wash, they found a vehicle parked in the wash bay, Myers said. Police could reportedly see steam or smoke coming from inside the car.

Gerald S. Leinenbach, 35, was inside the car, Myers said. He was allegedly holding a container near his mouth and appeared to be huffing something.

The object was later determined to contain nitrous oxide, according to the police report.

Officers removed Leinenbach from the vehicle and arrested him. He faces a preliminary charge of glue sniffing, a class B misdemeanor.
