Man allegedly robbed twice by same suspect

A Bloomington man told police he was robbed at gunpoint Monday by the same suspect who had taken his cell phone just hours earlier.

The 18-year-old victim told police that he met the suspect earlier in the day and, while the two interacted, the suspect stole the victim’s cell phone, Bloomington police Sgt. Jeff Canada said.

Later in the day, the man was able to make contact with the suspect and arrange a time to meet and retrieve the stolen cell phone, Canada said.

Around 8 p.m., the victim met with the suspect in the area of South Basswood Drive and South Copper Beech Way. Rather than give the man his phone, however, the suspect reportedly pulled a small black handgun on him and demanded his money.

The suspect took the money from the victim and fled to the north, Canada said.

The victim described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5-foot-7 with teardrop tattoos under both of his eyes and his mouth.
