Bloomington man receives 315-year sentence for child pornography

A Bloomington man received a 315-year sentence following a guilty plea to dozens of felony offenses regarding his production and global distribution of child pornography.

David R. Bostic, 25 of Bloomington, received the sentence Tuesday, United States Attorney Joseph Hogsett announced. The 315 year sentence is one of the longest to ever be handed down to someone in the United States District Court of Southern Indiana, Hogsett said in the press release.

"This defendant is among the most dangerous offenders ever prosecuted by this office," Hogsett said.

Bostic was convicted of producing and distributing pornographic images of five children, all under the age of four and one only two months old. He gained access to the children by befriending their parents (who did not know that the pornographic images were being produced) and offering to babysit.

The images Bostic produced were mostly made in Bloomington and were distributed globally, including to places as far away as Serbia and the Netherlands.

"Mr. Bostic committed heinous acts of sexual abuse against the most vulnerable in our society," Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer said. "He memorialized these unspeakable crimes by producing photographs of his abuse and distributing them to an international network of child predators."

In addition to the 315 year prison sentence, Bostic will also be placed under mandatory lifetime supervision if released from prison, although his release is not likely given the hefty prison sentence.

"No prison term can undo the pain and suffering Mr. Bostic has caused. But today's sentence sends a strong message that child sexual exploitation will be punished severely," Breuer said.
