$15 million donor identified

The Kelley School of Business announced Nov. 18 that alumnus James Hodge made a then-anonymous $15-million donation to the school in 2009.

The donation will be used to pay for about a quarter of the undergraduate building renovation project Kelley plans to undertake, according to a press release.

Hodge, a Marion, Ind., native, graduated from IU with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1974 and now serves on the IU Foundation board of directors and on the Kelley School of Business Dean’s Council.

On Nov. 18, the school and Kelley Dean Dan Smith thanked Hodge.

“I think that everyone wants to give back,” Hodge said in the release. “I generally think that whatever’s gone right for me in my career was started the day I walked into (former Kelley adviser Leslie) Waters’ office. In Bloomington, the sun came out for me.”
