Man reports armed robbery

Bloomington police are investigating an attempted robbery reported Wednesday on the city’s south side.

The 29-year-old victim was in his bedroom in the 1000 block of East Second Street before midnight when he heard someone enter the house, Lt. Bill Parker of the Bloomington Police Department said.

The victim told police he initially assumed it was just one of his roommates, but his bedroom door was kicked in, and two men entered the room, Parker said.

One of the men hit the victim in the head with a pistol and demanded money, Parker said. The victim reportedly told them he had no money to give.

After repeatedly striking the victim with the gun, the suspects fled in a mid-1980s Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. It was too dark for the victim to make out the vehicle’s color, Parker said.

A female roommate was upstairs at the time of the attempted robbery. She stayed in her room and called police, Parker said.

The suspects are described as two black males. Both were wearing hoodies.

One of the men was of medium height and heavy build and wore a black ski mask, Parker said, while the other was shorter, of slight build and wore a brown ski mask.
