Willis out for year

Junior running back Darius Willis will miss the remainder of the 2011 season, a source with knowledge of the situation told IDS football columnist Justin Albers Tuesday.

The source said Willis, who missed the final eight games in 2010 and has not played this season, has not healed from a knee injury he suffered last season.

The former Franklin Central standout and Indiana Mr. Football runner-up also dealt with injuries during his freshman season, when he rushed for 607 yards and six touchdowns.

Willis had three games with more than 100 yards rushing that year, including a 152 yard, 2 touchdown outburst at Michigan.

Willis has two year of eligibility remaining, but it is unclear when he will play football again.
