Following “The Music Man,” which was the first show ever for IU’s Indiana Festival Theater, William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors” will open July 13 as the theater’s second production of the summer.
The classic comedy, which is considered one of the greatest of all time, tells the story of a young man and his servant journeying from Syracuse to Ephesus, whereupon arrival they discover that each one has an identical twin living there. The twins are also a young man and a servant. The result is mistaken identities and mass confusion.
Director Jonathan Michaelsen, chair of the IU Department of Theatre and Drama, referred to “Comedy of Errors” in a press release as “great Shakespeare with some zany farce thrown in.”
The Indiana Festival Theatre repertory company is led by four professional Actors’ Equity Association performers. The production also features an original score composed by local musician David Wierhake.
"The Comedy of Errors" will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Wells-Metz Theatre in the Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center at 275 N. Jordan Ave.
Regular admission is $25 for adults and $15 for students or anyone 18 years of age or younger.
