A state trooper was dragged by a vehicle Wednesday during a routine traffic stop in Bloomington.
The trooper had pulled over a vehicle for speeding northbound on State Road 37 near Third Street.
At some point during the stop, the driver fled the scene and dragged the state trooper 45 to 50 feet, according to a press release from the Indiana State Police.
The State Police investigated for about two hours before finding the alleged driver, Michael D. Norris, 31 of Elletsville. He was found in the home of a friend on Glendora Drive in Bloomington.
Upon arrest, the police discovered that Norris had a warrant out for his arrest for battery with strangulation.
The injured officer was taken to Bloomington Hospital where he was treated and released.
The names of the police officer and his partner who was uninjured will be released at a later date.
