Controversial abortion bill passes in House of Representatives

At 5:41 p.m today members of the Indiana House of Representatives voted 66-32 to adopt a motion to concur House Bill 1210. The bill is on the way to the governor’s desk where Gov. Mitch Daniels may veto it or sign it into law.

The bill, authored by Sen. Eric Turner, R-Marion, would call for increased abortion regulations in the state of Indiana. Additionally, the bill would prohibit state agencies from entering contracts with or making grants to any entity that performs abortions or maintains or operates a facility where abortions are performed.
