Bloomington sees second rape attempt in same weekend

A man was arrested after another attempted rape this weekend.

Deonte Irons, 20, of Bloomington, was arrested early Sunday morning for attempted rape after he crawled in bed with a passed out woman at a party on the east side of town.

It was the second reported attempted rape this weekend in Bloomington.

This happened at an east side apartment party, said Bloomington Police Sgt. Jeff Canada.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman, had been drinking and her friends put her into a bed so she could sleep. Someone noticed a man walked into the room. Friends went to check on her and saw Irons under the covers. He was wearing only his boxers and a T-shirt.

A male friend of the woman began yelling at him and threw him out of the apartment. They got in an argument on the porch and the police were flagged down.

During the argument a witness reported Irons saying that he was trying to have sex with her, Canada said.

Irons ran from police and when he was caught he gave a fake name.

He denied to police trying to have sex with the woman.
