Cold War tunes

coldwarkids

If you’re looking for the dirty blues of Cold War Kids’ first album, you might be a little disappointed.

But just try and forget what band this is. Try not to expect anything, because this would be a great album from anybody else.

I kept running into this problem, only thinking about it in comparison with the other two albums. But this is basically a different band. You could imagine Maroon 5 and maybe even U2 doing some of these songs.

I have one problem with this new style. Some of the choruses resemble Christian rock anthems. You know, the kind where you see videos of gigantic crowds all clapping with their hands high up in the air? Of course, unlike Christian rock, this doesn’t make me want to vomit. So that’s good.

If I had to use one word to describe “Mine is Yours,” it would be “anthemic.” The songs sound very big. Listen to it, and I think you’ll know what I mean.
