A report of sexual assault on Nov. 5 has been recanted, said Chief of Police Keith Cash in a press release.
The McNutt Quad resident, who reported being threatened with a knife and raped while jogging near 14th Street and Walnut Grove, told police Thursday that the incident was fictitious.
Investigators, Cash said in the release, had tried several times to contact the student during the past several weeks. However, the student did not respond and could not be located.
On Thursday, she contacted the police on her own to tell investigators the incident did not happen.
