Nearly 500 students gathered in Dunn Meadow to endorse the U.S. policy on the war in Vietnam, marking the end of Victory in Vietnam Week and Americanism Week.
"I say the majority of students are behind the government's policy in Vietnam," Robert F. Turner, state chairman of the Student Committee for Victory in Vietnam, said in an IDS article.
While the rally leaders believed it a success, crowd members booed a statement by Congressman William G. Bray that opponents to the Vietnam conflict were "cowards and yellow bellies."
