An arrest warrant has been issued by the IU Police Department for a second suspect in the robbery and battery case that took place Oct. 31, when a group of African-Americans allegedly used racial slurs and attacked and robbed a group of Asian students.
The warrant is for Aldwin Jamal Shade, a 19-year-old male and non-student with a Jeffersonville, Ind., address, said IUPD Chief of Police Keith Cash, in a press release.
At about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, IUPD and Jeffersonville Police Officers executed a search warrant on the residence in Jeffersonville, Ind., where IUPD thought a stolen phone was located. Shade was not home at the time of the search, but the stolen cell phone was recovered.
The charges included in the warrant are robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Class A felony; aggravated battery, a Class B felony; and battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
Suspect Terry Lee
Campbell, Jr., 18, was arrested Monday, according to an IU Police Department
press release. IUPD executed a search warrant at 4 p.m. Monday in Forest Quad, but Campbell was not at his residence.
At 9:58 p.m. officers received a tip that Campbell was at Read Center and arrested him without incident for the initial charges of robbery and battery with serious bodily injury.
If anyone has information about Shade or the incident that occurred Sunday, contact IUPD at 812-855-4111.
