Six Yorktown Courts apartments were evacuated Saturday, when possibly explosive World War II memorabilia was discovered.
Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Scott Meyers said family members found memorabilia, including hand grenades, while cleaning out another family member’s apartment.
A call was dispatched to BPD at 6:24 p.m., Meyers said.
Once BPD arrived at the scene, they contacted experts from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technology Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Centers.
Some residents were evacuated as a safety precaution.
The explosives experts conducted an investigation and removed the items safely.
Meyers said the experts did not believe the items were harmful in the end.
