IU wins 51-17 in opener

Senior quarterback Ben Chappell threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns to pace IU to a 51-17 victory against Towson in the season opener.

Sophomore running back Darius Willis added 102 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the first half for the Hoosiers.

IU rested its starters for most of the second half as the Hoosiers mounted a 48-14 lead after three quarters.

The Hoosiers will not return to action until Sept. 18 when they travel to Western Kentucky for a non-conference game.
