HALFTIME UPDATE

All signs pointed to an IU rout after wide receiver Tandon Doss opened the game with an 87-yard kick return.

But a fumble by IU running back Darius Willis washed out IU’s prime starting field position.

Western Kentucky running back Bobby Rainey almost single handily marched the Hilltoppers down the field. Rainey accounted for 69 total yards on the Hilltoppers first possession, ending it with an 11-yard touchdown run.

The IU offense struggled to get going early, failing to score a point in the first quarter. A couple of third down conversions to IU receiver Damarlo Blecher was all Ben Chappell needed to open up the passing game.

Touchdowns from Belcher and Doss have the Hoosiers out to a 17-7 lead at halftime.
