Auditorium adds two shows to holiday schedule

The IU Auditorium has announced two new additions to the upcoming 2010-11 theater schedule to ring in the holiday season.

“Cirque Dreams: Holidaze” and Mannheim Steamroller will each perform at the auditorium in December, joining Chimes of Christmas in the auditorium’s holiday lineup. “Cirque Dreams: Holidaze” will run for two nights, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Mannheim Steamroller will perform Dec. 17.

Tickets are now available at the box office and the auditorium’s website.

The Cirque Dreams company was featured last season with “Cirque Dreams: Illumination.” Founded in 1993 by Neil Goldman, Cirque Dreams has performed in Super Bowls and on national television, as well as in national tours.

Mannheim Steamroller, created in the late 1970s by band leader Chip Davis, has built their reputation around the success of their 1984 Christmas album, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. The album has sold over 6 million copies and is recognized as one of the holidays’ most successful compiliations. The group combines baroque, light jazz and New Age-styled music and has sold over 25 million albums in the United States during its career.
