Not quite golden

3OH!3’s first hit single might have been called “Don’t Trust Me,” but with the group’s latest album, “Streets of Gold,” you can trust them to at least do one thing: make infectiously catchy and crass pop music.

While this works on a few of their new songs, like “Touchin’ on My,” the constant barrage of sex, booze and drugs gets a little tiring by the end of the CD. It’s nice to see that the band has made an effort to develop a more mature sound, evident in some of their more serious songs.

On “My First Kiss,” 3OH!3 brings in current pop princess Ke$ha to join in the fun. The cute but mindless tune is sure to be a staple on the playlist of every party this summer. It’s playful, upbeat songs like this where the band shines the most.

“Streets of Gold” might not win any Grammys, but 3OH!3 has produced a CD chock–full of hits sure to please its fans.
