Dream come true

dreamloveking

I have always dreamed, since I first heard The-Dream, that his music would stop sounding the same to me. I dreamed that he would mix it up — maybe some unique sounds and lyrical creativity to match his graceful singing talents.

My dreams came true when I heard “Love King.”

The-Dream’s third album is one that, after listening through a few times, I must say I finally enjoy. He steps it up with some varied rhythms, assuring that no two tracks on this album sound the same.

The fact that this album only has 12 tracks works in its favor. With only 12 songs, no ideas are repeated, and the album doesn’t become stale. It might leave you wanting more, but that’s what a music artist should do.

My only complaint about “Love King” is that while it has individually enjoyable songs, they don’t flow well as an album. Listen to “Appetite for Destruction” by Guns N’ Roses and you’ll understand this idea.

Still, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick this one up. It’s the epitome of an enjoyable summer album.
