Inmate remains at large after Friday escape

State officials say an Indiana State Prison inmate remains at large three days after he walked away from a prison road crew.

Indiana Department of Correction spokesman Doug Garrison said Monday that authorities are checking with 30-year-old Jason Garmon’s friends and relatives to see if they’ve seen him.

He says individuals who have visited Garmon in prison or sent him e-mails are also being contacted.

Garrison says escaped convicts tend to go to areas they’re most familiar with.

The Montpelier resident was last seen Friday as he was working on a state prison road crew at the Summit Farm Operation between Michigan City and LaPorte.

Garmon was serving time at the Michigan City prison for robbery and attempted robbery charges in Delaware and Wayne counties.
