RHA rejects election complaints

Teter Election Commissioner Andrew Rusch decided Thursday to reject a formal complaint by Ryan Garner, a Residence Halls Association member and personal advisor to Ricky Benning, a candidate for Teter Quad President.

A signed Memorandum of Understanding from both candidates for Teter President states that presidential candidate Monica Woodrick was the winner of the election and there are no outstanding complaints.

The original complaint, filed Thursday, said there were four violations of the RHA Election Code during voting Tuesday and asked for a re-election for Teter President.

The violations regarded sections of the Election Code that say candidates as well as campaigning or campaign materials cannot be within 50 feet of a polling place during voting, as well as the minimum number of poll workers and their responsibility to report violations.

Benning did not filed a complaint, Rusch said.
