Jerry Wilkerson, executive associate dean for the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, received the 2010 Ruth B. Glassow Award from the Biomechanics Academy Committee of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
The honor is presented annually to recognize a member of the academy for contributions to the biomechanics field.
Wilkerson will receive the award at a March 19 ceremony during the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance national convention.
Wilkerson has spent most of her career in the area of qualitative biomechanics and has published articles regarding approaches to understand movement. She has chaired 30 doctoral students and was nominated for the award by a former student.
She is a lifetime member of NAPSE, the former chair of the biomechanics academy, the former vice president of publications for the International Society of Biomechanics and has been the host and editor of the Biomechanics Teaching Conferences.
