Indiana Council for Continuing Education awards 2 IU faculty

Anya Peterson Royce, Chancellor’s Professor of Anthropology, was named Faculty Member of the Year, and Jeanne Madison, director of the Lifelong Learning Program at IU-Bloomington Continuing Studies, was named Professional Staff Member of the Year.

The awards were presented by the Indiana Council for Continuing Education at its professional development conference on March 19.

IU Continuing Studies has several programs including Mini University of which Madison is the director, and resources from the programs are at both campus and community locations.

“Anya has made distinguished contributions to teaching in so many contexts; it is wonderful to see her work in continuing education recognized in this way,” said Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson in an IU press release. “Jeanne’s innovative program leadership has produced programs that are models for the nation. Her work has brought great benefits to the University and to nontraditional students. This recognition of their contributions is richly deserved.”

Royce has taught Continuing Studies for more than 10 years, and Madison has worked at IUB for more than 30 years. Ron White, director of the IU Continuing Studies, said both faculty members represent the best in continuing education.
