Cultural initiative continues with events on reflection

The second part of an IU-Bloomington initiative to promote culture and create an inclusive campus begins today.

The lecture and panel revolve around the theme “Reflection: Mapping Practices and Setting Priorities.” There are also eight campus workshops to go along with the second part of the initiative.

These events aim to formulate a plan for collective action, so both individuals and groups can respond to shared concerns as well as remain accountable to each other.

The workshops will identify resources and practices currently on campus as well as map out relations for understanding diversity efforts.

The events are the reflection portion of ARC 2010!, which stands for Attention, Reflection, Connection, Taking Steps Toward an Inclusive Campus and addresses diversity as an intellectual question that is informed by continual practice.

The first part of the initiative focused on requiring structure and rules developed by the group as a means for collective action. The third part will discuss connections and how to build for the future.
