Professor of Recreation, Park and Tourism Studies, Barbara Hawkins, was selected as Fellow of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.
She was chosen by the Educational Unit of the Gerontological Society of America Fellow Selection and Executive Committees of Global Leaders in Education on Aging.
Hawkin’s research on the health, daily life activities and well-being of older adults has led her to receive this honor given to individuals who demonstrate leadership in gerontology/geriatric education.
She has received more than $2.1 million in funded research, curriculum development and outreach grants, according to an IU press release.
Hawkins received the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Outstanding Researcher Award in 2005.
