Police find scale, traces of marijuana

The Bloomington Police Department responded to the call of a 21-year-old male at 10 p.m. Tuesday at his residence in the 200 block of S. Hillsdale Dr.

The resident claimed to be watching television when he heard a knock at his front door.

When he answered, two men wearing black ski masks forced their way inside, police said.

One of the intruders went to the back of the residence while another stayed in the living room with the resident.

One of the intruders had a gun, according to the Bloomington Police report written by Officer Tracy Headley.

The resident claimed to run out the front door when the intruders were distracted.

He told police he contacted BPD from his neighbor’s house.

The intruders were gone by the time police arrived. Officers said that nothing appeared to be missing.

After smelling burning marijuana, officers found a safe in the back room of the residence and evidence that marijuana had been stored inside it.

They also found “small amounts of marijuana, empty bags that had at one time held marijuana and other paraphernalia, including a grinder and a scale,” Lt. David Drake said.

Officers confiscated the marijuana and did not charge the male with any crimes, Drake said. Police can’t identify the intruders.

“The two intruders possibly knew that the male had a significant amount of marijuana in his possession,” said Drake. There is no evidence to support this claim.
