Colts fans warned about ticket scams

The Better Business Bureau of Central Indiana recently released a statement warning Colts fans against falling for Super Bowl ticket scams. Here are some of the tips they offered.

Buying tickets
• Purchase them from a local company who has a good reputation with selling Super Bowl game packages and tickets.
• Only deal with online sellers who have good reviews and are located in the United States.
• Credit cards and PayPal can track your purchases, providing you with extra protection in the event you don’t receive your tickets.
• Make sure you read all of the details of a sale, especially the fine print.

Buying packages that include Super Bowl tickets
• Get everything in writing, including cancellation policies, the form of transportation you will use and the information for the hotel at which you will be staying.
• Take it upon yourself to verify your travel and hotel accommodations.
After you find out the information, confirm this information with the package’s travel promoter.
• Know the details of the “Truth in Ticketing” law. It requires that travel promoters advertising Super Bowl tickets either possess the tickets or have a written contract to receive them.
If they don’t provide the tickets, the travel promoters are responsible for fully refunding the entire cost of the package.
