You’ll probably love this

summerset

Though The Summer Set’s sound isn’t all that original, it sure is catchy as this Scottsdale, Ariz.  act brings a little bit of summer to the listener – even in the middle of October.

The lyrics play with cliches about dating and the boy-wants-girl motif in “The Boys You Do (Get Back At You)” and “Punch-Drunk Love.”

Again, though this is nothing new, the band’s use of acoustic sounds rather than the electric makes many of the tracks more interesting than they should be. And in some efforts, there is some use of synth, which adds a new element that enhances the already hook-centric rhythm.

It might be fall, but “Love Like This” is an album to jam to on a long, windows-down drive with your friends.

So whether you’re on the beach or daydreaming about one, The Summer Set’s debut is an easy listen that might not pack a hard-rock punch, but features a number of stupidly catchy songs.
