The No. 7 IU men’s soccer team wants its opponent to be left seeing white on Friday.
The first 500 fans to come to the 7:30 p.m. matchup Friday against No. 5 St. John’s at Bill Armstrong Stadium will receive a white T-shirt to wear during the game.
One hundred fans will also get a noisemaker horn to blast during the contest.
IU Athletics is also promoting “Fill the Bill” for Sunday’s 2 p.m. match against No. 3 Wake Forest.
The goal is to break the previous record for fans in attendance set in a 2007 game against UCLA by packing Bill Armstrong with 8,000 fans. The record from the UCLA match is 7,423.
Tickets to the games are free with a valid student ID, with prices at $5 for adults and $3 for children from age 3 through high school.
“Our players want to come out Friday night and see a sea of white,” men’s soccer coach Mike Freitag said in a press release. “It is important to get the season started on the right foot, and for that we need our fans loud and excited.”
