Rep. Baron Hill will meet with leaders from the IU College Democrats today as part of a week spent discussing possible health care reform with constituents across Southern Indiana.
Hill, D-9th, has emerged in recent months as a leader of the so-called Blue Dog Democrats, a group of fiscally moderate Congressional representatives who have criticized President Barack Obama’s proposed health care overhaul as too costly.
Junior Laura Carlson, a College Democrats executive board member who will attend the meeting, said Hill requested to meet with the group. She expects the representative to discuss strategies for re-election in 2010.
“I don’t have details of what he’s going to discuss,” Carlson said.
Hill has planned two town hall-style meetings about health care this week. The first of which was on Monday at IU-Southeast New Albany.
On Wednesday, Hill will take questions at Bloomington High School North.
