IU ties Valpo 1-1

The IU women's soccer team kicked of their 2009 season with a 1-1 tie with Valparaiso in an exhibition match on Saturday at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

Both teams were scoreless in the first half, but Valparaiso's Jackie Kondratko opened up the scoring with a goal in the 74th minute. IU's Natalie O'Bryan answered with a goal in the 84th minute to tie the game.

IU officially opens its season with a match against Wright State on Aug. 21 at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
