Former director of alumni affairs dies at 86

Former director of alumni affairs for IU and executive secretary for the IU Alumni Association Frank B. Jones, 86, died Tuesday.

Jones came to IU in 1942 on a track scholarship. He left IU to serve in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and returned to IU in 1946.

In 1951, Jones became the assistant alumni secretary for the Alumni Association. He would continue to work for the association until 1987. Under Jones, the association became a legal entity separate from the university in 1969.
