Armed man shot by Fort Wayne police

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Police shot and wounded a man who they say pointed a gun at officers who were chasing him near a bus station in downtown Fort Wayne.

The man, later identified as 22-year old Carleon Ragsdale of Fort Wayne, was treated at a hospital and released. An Allen County Jail officer said he was being held Wednesday night on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement and carrying a handgun without a license. He was due to appear in court Thursday.

Police said Ragsdale fled after officers responded to the bus station after receiving a 911 call reporting a man with a gun. He allegedly pointed a gun at police while running down the street, and one of the officers shot him in front of the Allen County Jail.
