My son and I recently visited the Bloomington campus to attend official University presentations for prospective students. The administrators who made presentations at the Office of Admissions and the Kelley School of Business were disappointing.
To be blunt, the administrator at Kelley was dressed like a slob. Further, the rote recitation of banal generalizations from admissions and Kelley administrators gave the impression the University is resting on its laurels.
School spirit was sorely lacking in these individuals. They spoke without enthusiasm and sounded like musty bureaucrats.
As a graduate of IU Bloomington, I was embarrassed for my alma mater.
At both the Office of Admissions and Kelley, the students who were there to speak saved the day. The student who led our group in a campus tour was excellent as well.
All were appropriately dressed, well-spoken, enthusiastic and related their personal experiences in an informative and appealing manner.
