Man arrested for burglary, theft, residential entry

Indiana State Police arrested a Heltonville man on nine felony counts Friday.

Twenty-year-old David E. Combs of Heltonville, Ind., was arrested on three counts of burglary, three counts of theft and three counts of residential entry.

Troopers Greg Day and Josh Allen were called to the 2200 block of Meadows Church Road near Heltonville to take a burglary report at about 12:30 p.m. The victim told officers that someone had stolen a six gallon jar filled full of half-dollar and dollar coins from his house on Tuesday.

Upon investigation, the police identified Combs as a suspect and arrested him on probable cause. Police later discovered that Combs had burglarized the same residence on two other occasions over the past five months, according to a release.

Police recovered $2,655.98 in stolen coins and returned the money to the victim.
Combs was transported to, processed and lodged at the Lawrence County Jail.
