Local bank robbed Monday

A thief fled the Members Choice Federal Credit Union on Monday afternoon with a sack of cash.

911 dispatchers received a call at 12:53 p.m. Monday that the bank, located at 520 W. Patterson Drive, had been robbed, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Jeff Canada said.
The suspect entered the bank and approached the first teller, Canada said. He then gave her a bag and told her to put cash in it. The teller complied, and the man fled the scene, running northwest on Patterson Drive, Canada said.

The suspect was described as a black male, between 6 feet and 6-foot-2, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a mask that covered his face, showing  only his nose and eyes, Canada said.

Witnesses working outside nearby the bank told police they saw the man exit the bank and start running. After they saw stray cash fly out of the thief’s bag, they followed him.
The witnesses were able to see the man get into a red, newer-model, small-sized SUV, Canada said.

Members Choice bank was closed for the rest of the day.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact BPD Detective Chris Ryan at 349-3320.
