This letter concerns the total failure of the city administration to clear the roads after the recent snow storms, which has endangered the lives and limbs of most citizens of Bloomington. It is a travesty that large sections of the pavement and Second Street itself, as well as adjoining streets, have not been shoveled either by the owners of the adjoining houses or the apartment complexes.
The city administration has neither informed the citizens of their duty nor enforced any rules about clearing the snow.
It is possible that most citizens of Bloomington do not suffer because they do not live around or walk to the campus of Indiana University every day. However, it is completely unjustifiable and inhumane that those of us who do are asked to pay taxes and/or obey the city laws when the city administration is either incapable or unwilling to prevent injury to us.
