EVANSVILLE – Yes, there is a town called Santa Claus.
A new RadioShack commercial has brought added attention this holiday season to the southern Indiana town named after the jolly old elf.
The ad shows children giving their father a GPS unit. The family then travels to Santa Claus and eats at a fictional diner called Rudolph’s, where the children are served by St. Nick himself.
The Spencer County Visitors Bureau said many people heard about the town in the ad and want to visit. Executive Director Melissa Miller said the commercial could be a boon to local tourism for the town of 2,000.
Visitors to Santa Claus won’t find Rudolph’s Diner, but they can visit the Santa Claus Museum, the Silent Night Cafe and the Lake Rudolph Campground.
