ZBT headstone sprayed with slur

Members of Zeta Beta Tau woke up this morning to find the exterior of their fraternity house vandalized.

The vandalism occurred between 2 and 8 a.m. Wednesday, said IUPD Capt. Jerry Minger.

The front door and the headstone were spray-painted with blue and red paint, junior and ZBT member Tal Rubin said. The headstone had a derogatory term targeted at homosexuals painted on it.

He said the fraternity has surveillance cameras they will review to see if anyone is seen vandalizing their house. Because they think the vandalism was done overnight, they are not sure how much the camera will show.

“It’s very disrespectful,” Rubin said. “We don’t go and paint other people’s houses.”

Currently, no suspects have been identified, Minger said. Spray painting occurs more often on campus buildings and kiosks.

“Spray paint on a variety of things occurs with a certain amount of frequency,” Minger said.
