Hoosiers close out exhibition season with a win

IU freshman guard Daniel Moore goes up for a layup after stealing the ball from a Bemidji State player during a game Tuesday night at Assembly Hall. Moore had five points in IU's 72-54 win.

The IU men’s basketball team closed out its short exhibition season with a 72-54 win against Division II Bemidji State Beavers.

At halftime the Hoosiers held an 11-point, 37 to 26, lead, but the Beavers mounted a comeback early in the second half, finding themselves only down a point with just over 16 minutes remaining. But from there the Hoosiers took control.

Leading the Hoosiers in the second half was Malik Story who led IU in scoring with 15 points off the bench.

Kyle Taber, IU’s leading returning scorer from last season, returned from injury sooner than expected and played 15 minutes, grabbing nine rebounds and contributing four points to the Hoosiers' effort.

IU’s next game is against Northwestern State at 7 p.m. Saturday.
