A large cross was stolen from the Sigma Chi fraternity on East Seventh Street early Oct. 30, said IU Police Department Capt. Jerry Minger.
It was reported missing at 4:06 p.m. on Thursday and is believed to have been stolen between midnight and 6 a.m., Minger said. When the staff left at midnight, the cross was still in place, Minger said, but when they returned in the morning, it was missing.
The cross is 2 feet wide and 3 feet tall and stood above ground level on the south side of the building, Minger said.
It is expected to cost $200 to replace, Minger said.
The exterior lights and lawn lights were on when it went missing.
