JUDGE, 10TH CIRCUIT COURT, SEAT 6

Joby D. Jerrells (R)

Age: 41

Education: Bachelor’s degree from IU; M.P.A.; J.D., with honors

Experience: Former Monroe County deputy prosecutor; deputy attorney general; corporate attorney;  more than 50 published opinions; arguments in the Indiana Supreme Court.

Top Priorities if elected: “My top priority is to run an efficient court docket and issue sound legal rulings. Seat 6 involves a civil caseload. I have criminal and civil law experience.”

Why running: “Last year, I realized that the Monroe County bar is aging, and it was time for the next generation of attorneys to step into leadership roles in the community.”

Valeri Haughton (D)

Age: 59

Education: B.A.; Graduate certificate in women’s studies; J.D. all from University of Iowa

Experience:
Currently attorney in the office of the Monroe County Public Defender; served 12 years as deputy prosecuting attorney.
