A presentation today at 7 p.m. will discuss the efforts undertaken this past decade to reduce negative ideas about mental illness.
The presentation, “Erasing the Stigma of Mental Illness,” will be given by Dr. Bernice Pescosolido, an IU professor of sociology and director of the Indiana Consortium for Mental Health Services Research.
“Mental illness is something that touches almost every family,” said Marsha Dias, a research associate at IU working to help promote the event. “It’s a really important issue.”
During the presentation, Pescosolido will present neuroscientific findings that have led to a greater understanding and more compassionate view of mental illness, according to a press release.
The presentation will be in rooms 1B/1C at the Monroe County Public Library.
