Girls Inc. of Monroe County offers empowerment-based programs for girls ages 5-18, fighting gender inequity through inspiring girls to live up to their full potential.
Our sports leagues (basketball, volleyball, dance) are one of the ways that we help girls to build the confidence and skills they need to grow into strong and healthy young women.
We could not provide these opportunities to girls without the tremendous amount of volunteer support we receive from IU students. For more than 20 years IU students have been volunteer coaches for all of our sports leagues. These students have devoted their time and energy to giving girls of all skill levels the chance to see themselves as real athletes.
For many of these students, sports were an important part of their childhood development and they want to make sure that all girls have the same opportunities for fun and growth. We want to thank all of you who have participated in our sports programs over the years, both as volunteers and work-study employees – we absolutely could not have done it without you.
We are about to begin our 2008 basketball season and still have a few spots for coaches. We welcome IU students who are interested in getting involved.
Thank you for continuing to support us in our mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold!
