Obama is unifying, not 'frightening'

Of all the misguided, ignorant statements in Justin P. Hill’s April 21 article “The Pretender,” I was most disturbed by the author’s assertion that supporting abortion rights is inherently anti-Christian. Although I am a pro-life Christian myself, I recognize that there are millions of Christians who have perfectly valid, rational and ethical arguments for supporting abortion rights. (Support for abortion rights, by the way, does not equate to being “pro-abortion.”) Most importantly, being pro-life is not a requirement for being a Christian. (In fact, the Bible not once mentions the act of abortion.) Justin, how dare you question someone’s faith based upon his or her political stances. This type of unnecessary divisiveness is precisely what Senator Obama is attempting to end with his unifying, uplifting and hopeful (or as you say, “frightening”) message.
