No need for invite

This is in reference to a March 31 article about Relay For Life. One of the survivors commented and said that instead of receiving an invitation to the event this year in the mail, she called the American Cancer Society office and asked for an invitation. During the event, survivors fill out a registration form. This form gives the ACS permission as well as contact information to invite survivors for the coming year’s Relay. If the form is not turned in, then the ACS will not contact the survivor. Relay For Life is a celebration of life, and celebrating our survivors is one of the main focuses of our event. The survivors are very important and are welcome every year at our events. Invitations are sent out as merely a reminder and to inform survivors of the details of the event. An invitation is not needed to attend Relay as a survivor, and actually we encourage any survivors and their caregivers to come out to any of our future Relays and enjoy the activities at our event.
