IDS opinion’s ‘comedian’

Whereas most of my fellow liberals tend to say largely negative things about the ever-polemic Chase Cooper, I actually want to thank him for spawning – and the IDS for hiring – his Mini-Me-like clone, Justin P. Hill. Whereas I’ve actually somewhat agreed with a couple of Cooper’s columns, or at the very least been able to respect the logical arguments that he infrequently makes, Hill’s columns are so outrageously conservative and so egregiously devoid of sound arguments that I can’t help but be entertained. I used to think that as far as college-educated individuals went, only liberals could be that extremist and histrionic, but Hill is definitely taking one for his team. \nThe first time I read one of his articles I honestly thought he was taking a cue from Stephen Colbert and trying to be satirical with his arguments. His rationale for debating such things as how premarital sex and the viewing of pornography can lead you down the path of becoming the next Ted Bundy is almost – dare I say – “LOL” worthy. Of course, I’m probably being a bit harsh, since after repeatedly making the connection between sex and murder in his March 3 column, he then attempted to negate the damage done by saying he wasn’t making that connection at all. I used to be bummed about the IDS’s complete lack of entertaining comics – I’d rather put up with The Family Circus than read more than half of the comics in the newspaper – but with Hill as a regular opinion-page columnist, who needs Foxtrot? Keep up the great work, Justin!
